The stage version of the 1929 silent film comedy of the same name.

In 1930 Ralph Benatzky wrote not only his world success "The White Horse Inn", but also his second most frequently performed play "My Sister and I". It is the stage version of the 1929 silent film comedy of the same name, which in turn was modeled on the French stage comedy "Ma soeur et moi" by Louis Verneuil and Georges Berr, published in 1928.

Benatzky himself paraphrased this success as follows: "The premiere, the press and the mood about the play Berlin developed into a huge success, the like of which I had never had before in this unconditional recognition. It seemed to me as if I were only now [...] being fully accepted and valued as an operetta composer. Enthusiastic press with epithets like 'the most graceful work since 'Die Fledermaus' [...] joined hands in a completely enthusiastic dance of recognition."
